Amending Native Soil Webinar to Help Nevada County Cannabis Growers Improve Cultivation Practices
The Nevada County Cannabis Alliance will host an online educational webinar titled “Amending Native Soil” on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 3:00–4:00 PM (Pacific Time) as part of its Get Legit Education Series.
The Get Legit Educational Series provides resources to support small cannabis farm operators in cultivating sustainable businesses that are prepared to meet the ever changing market and regulatory landscape of the California Cannabis Industry.
The session will feature local cultivator and soil specialist Daniel Fink, owner of Down Om Farms and an Organic Cultivation Specialist at Vital Garden Supply. Fink will guide cannabis growers through the fundamentals of amending native soil to support healthy plants and strong yields.
Participants will learn about Nevada County’s unique soil conditions, how to assess soil quality, and practical techniques for building fertile soil using organic amendments. The webinar will also cover strategies for improving soil structure, nutrient availability, and water retention through composting, mineral supplements, cover cropping, and irrigation considerations.
Fink brings more than 20 years of experience cultivating cannabis and advising both commercial and small-scale farms along the California coast. A member of the Cannabis Alliance and frequent speaker at community events such as Growing Green on the Yuba hosted by the South Yuba River Citizens League, he focuses on practical, science-based methods that support soil health and sustainable cultivation.
The one-hour webinar is intended for cannabis growers establishing new cultivation sites or looking to improve soil performance at existing farms.
