  • Nevada County Film Festival (NCFF) 110 Union Street Nevada City, CA, 95959 United States (map)

The Nevada City Film Festival (NCFF), affectionately dubbed the “Sundance of the Sierra,” returns for its 25th anniversary from June 20–22, 2025, in the historic town of Nevada City, California. Renowned for its vibrant arts scene and picturesque setting, NCFF celebrates independent cinema by showcasing a diverse array of short and feature-length films from emerging and established filmmakers worldwide.

This year’s festival features screenings at iconic venues such as the Nevada Theatre, California's oldest existing theater building, The Onyx Theatre, and the outdoor Pioneer Park. Attendees can look forward to filmmaker Q&As, panels, workshops, and lively after-parties, fostering a dynamic environment for both creators and audiences.

Kicking off the festivities is “Movies Under the Pines” on June 7, an open-air screening event at Pioneer Park featuring the classic film BIG. This family-friendly evening includes lawn games, food vendors, and local beer and wine, setting the stage for the main festival.

NCFF’s commitment to nurturing talent is evident through its Media Maker Residency and Producers Retreat, programs aimed at fostering cross-cultural exchange and supporting filmmakers from underrepresented communities. With accolades from Moviemaker Magazine and USA Today, NCFF continues to be a beacon for independent film enthusiasts.
