A Musical Journey of Light and Hope: Sierra Master Chorale and Orchestra

Grass Valley, CA — This spring, the Sierra Master Chorale and Orchestra, conducted by Alison Skinner, presents an uplifting choral experience: “A Musical Journey of Light and Hope.” With performances on Sunday, May 18 at 2:30 PM and Tuesday, May 20 at 7:30 PM, the program weaves a powerful narrative of resilience and connection through music by Brahms, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Lauridsen, Rutter, Ola Gjeilo, and others.

Sunday Matinee will be on May 20th, starting at 2:30PM.
Tuesday evening’s performance will begin at 7:30PM.

The concert features beloved selections such as “Over the Rainbow,” a choral arrangement of “For Good” from Wicked, and Mendelssohn’s soaring choruses from Elijah. Notable highlights include Mozart’s youthful “Te Deum,” Hagenberg’s Splendor from Illuminare, and Lauridsen’s tender “Sure on This Shining Night.”

The 60-member choir, drawn from across the region, performs with a professional orchestra, delivering emotionally rich and technically masterful music. Reflections from chorale members about the meaning behind the music will be included in the printed program, deepening the audience’s connection to the performance.
