Volunteer in the Garden and Help Feed Nevada County!

  • Interfaith Food Ministry 440 Henderson Street Grass Valley, CA, 95945 United States (map)

The Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) in Grass Valley is inviting community members to roll up their sleeves and dig into something truly meaningful: growing fresh, healthy food for local families in need. From July 10 through August 30, IFM is seeking volunteers to join its garden teams and support its mission of reducing food insecurity in Nevada County.

The fresh produce grown and harvested from the IFM Garden sites comes straight to IFM and gets placed into “produce bags” going out to families.

No gardening experience? No problem! Whether you're a seasoned grower or a total beginner, IFM welcomes anyone with a willing heart and a little free time. Volunteers will receive hands-on instruction and guidance in natural, no-till gardening methods — learning sustainable, affordable techniques for keeping gardens healthy and productive. It’s an excellent opportunity to learn how to grow your own food while giving back to the community.

There are multiple garden sites to choose from, including locations in Nevada City, the R&R Highway area, and the Brunswick Y. Volunteers can participate in a variety of activities such as planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting fruits and vegetables. All of the produce goes directly to families served by IFM’s food distribution programs.

IFM’s garden program is not just about food — it’s about community, education, and empowerment. It’s a fun, fulfilling way to make a difference while spending time outdoors and gaining valuable gardening skills.
