Not in Our Name
“The death of human empathy is one of the earliest most telling signs of a culture about to fall into barbarism.” – Hannah Arendt
How much longer are Americans going to wake up every morning only to learn of yet another massacre committed by Israel with the support of our tax dollars. The visible evidence of crimes against humanity is overwhelming.
Israeli Actions and American Complicity
Israel is now synonymous with torture, rape, and genocide. It’s clear they will not tolerate any deal with Iran. With the supposed ceasefire, Israel has continued to bomb civilian targets in Lebanon. The goal is to kill all who are Hezbollah, which is everyone as far as Netanyahu is concerned, just as everyone in Gaza is Hamas.
What all this means is that American taxpayers are complicit in torture and genocide. We underwrite these horrors with our tax dollars. Americans no longer have the luxury of thinking that we can do nothing, all the while knowing we are paying for suffering and death.
Our tax dollars pay for the weapons to kill children, (168 little schoolgirls on the first day of the war). There is no indirect connection when genocide is being accomplished with our tax dollars. There is a direct connection. Therefore, it is being done in our name.
The Urgent Need for New Leadership
The only remedy Americans have right now is to elect those leaders who say, No More, leaders who are anti-genocide, who will put a stop to this.
Bipartisan Failure on Genocide
The problem is that both Republicans and Democrats have sitting Senators who continue to support the genocide. Unfortunately, there are still plenty of pro-genocide Democrats. Currently these Democrats are working diligently to torpedo the candidacies of anti-genocide candidates. On the subject of supporting Israel’s genocide, it’s very difficult to tell the difference between Republicans and Democrats right now.
Economic Pain Caused by Foreign Wars
What most Americans don’t realize is just how much the wars impact our daily lives. The wars in the Middle East and elsewhere (Ukraine), by supplying money and weaponry, directly increase our cost of living, making it difficult for American families to meet their daily needs of housing, gas, groceries, and health care. And it’s going to get much worse very soon.
The war with Iran is directly contributing to unaffordability in the United States. As long as the conflicts continue America is in the grip of men like Netanyahu and his Zionist henchmen. Why are we still supporting this man and his murderous agenda? Why?
We have sitting Senators who continue to back Israel, and are not considering the impact the alliance has on our daily lives. How much longer can Americans sustain this? We have to decide how much economic hardship we can tolerate. The only remedy we have is to elect leaders who are anti-genocide and bring back human dignity and the values we thought America stood for.
Campaign Money and Pro-Israel Influence
It’s time to rid ourselves of pro-genocide candidates. If they are taking AIPAC money to support their campaigns, it’s a clue.
Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, is one of many Democrats who refuses to condemn the genocide. He has received approximately $1.7 million in campaign donations from the pro-Israel lobby. This makes him one of the top lifetime recipients of pro-Israel campaign funds in the U.S. Senate.
Biden has received $4,226,576 from pro-Israel PACs over his career. According to historical data compiled by OpenSecrets, these combined figures make Joe Biden the single largest recipient of pro-Israel campaign funds among all congressional candidates since 1990.
Kamala Harris has raised over $2.3 million in direct campaign contributions from individuals and political action committees classified as "pro-Israel" Hillary Clinton’s pro-Israel donations total $2,352,302.
So, there you have it from Democratic leadership. All bought and paid for by Israel.
In reality the majority of Americans do not support genocide but have acquiesced to the status quo. The hard truth is that the Democratic party has provided unconditional support to Israel even as the torture and genocide has ramped up. This policy increasingly undermines American interests, values, and economic well-being.
In April, 40 Senate Democrats, led by Bernie Sanders, voted to block the transfer of military equipment to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government. While the vote failed, (seven Democrats, including Chuck Schumer, voted with Republicans to continue the sales), this vote marked a historic high in Democratic opposition to Israeli arms sales.
We need more Democratic Senators who will support an anti-genocide agenda. We don’t have nearly enough at this point. More and more anti-genocide Democratic candidates will be running for office. Find out who these people are and vote for them.
As Americans we have to decide if we are willing to continue supporting pro-genocide, pro-massacre Democrats or are we going to sweep them out of office once and for all.
If we believe in Democracy and human rights then we have to support the freedom of all Palestinians and their legal right for self-determination. This means withdrawing taxpayer support from Israel and stopping the flow of arms.
It’s time to vote like your life, your families wellbeing, and the quality of life for all humanity depended on it. Take action!
